Renaissance

I had a wonderful opportunity to spend today with a friend and artist, who opened my eyes to new possibilities in art, hence an art rebirth for me.
I thought I would share this for dVerse this week, so happy open link night!
Renaissance

Her eyes are like water
Gently lapping
Contemplation
Into the still pool
drops
a
new
thought

Pigment isn't rigid purpose -
lines and value, tone and composition each justified

but instead

expression
in
pure
honest
colour
of her soul.

doe-gentle brush
verdant pigment
luminous paper
flowing water
rippling
in
celebration
of
Life.

Hi Brian - I am not too sure about it - free verse is a new and scary place for me.

Good luck with the new art.
Your free verse reads just fine, by the way. Try not to worry so much. Good for you for branching out.

Just jump back into and go for it, great piece and good luck.

Jessica - thank you for your encouragement - perhaps in poetry I need to loosen up as well as in my art!
Pat - thank you!
Claudia - Oh, that was exactly what I was aiming for!!

This flows very naturally and is a beautiful piece--nothing to be scared of. ;_) You got your point across well, very clean and clear, and that last stanza is delicate and right.

hedgewitch - thank you. From a poet as fine as you, that is high praise and means a lot to me.

That grabbed me immediately and is a new slant. I have not imagined a thought dropping like a pebble before but I like the images it conjures up.

Tino - it really felt very much like a pebble dropping, with ripples spreading. :D Thank you!

With art, one actually lives more deeply... into now...
